Aim of study (acc. to author)

The effects of an whole body exposure of mice to a 2.45 GHz electromagnetic field on anxiety, obsessive and depression behaviors should be investigated.

Background/further details

Mice were assigned to one the following groups (n=8 each): 1) exposure and 2) sham exposure for anxiety behavior tests, 3) exposure and 4) sham exposure for obsessive compulsive disorders tests, 5) exposure and 6) sham exposure for depression-like behavior tests. All tests were conducted after 7, 30, 60, 90 and 120 days of exposure.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

No significant differences were found between the exposure groups (1, 3, 5) and their corresponding sham exposure groups (2, 4, 6).
The authors conclude that the present study gives no indications of an effect of an exposure of mice to a 2.45 GHz electromagnetic field on anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders and depression-like behavior.
