Effects of Polygonum aviculare herbal extract on sperm parameters after EMF exposure in mouse med./bio.

Published in: Pak J Biol Sci 2011; 14 (13): 720-724

Aim of study (acc. to author)

To study the effects of Polygonum aviculare herbal extract on sperm parameters in mice after electromagnetic field exposure.

Background/further details

24 male mice were divided into four groups: 1) control group, 2) exposure group (3 mT), 3) Polygonum aviculare group (50 mg/kg herbal extract during 2 months) and 4) "Polygonum aviculare plus 3 mT exposure" group.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

The data showed that the electromagnetic field exposure reduced the sperm motility and that treatment of Polygonum aviculare and electromagnetic field exposure increased the number of sperms with normal morphology compared with the group exposed to electromagnetic fields exposure alone (please see full text link for more details).
