follicle stimulating hormone

Endocrinology. Glycoprotein hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. FSH is a central agent in the regulation of menstrual cycle. It stimulates the development of ovarian follicles and the release of oestrogens. In men, FSH stimulates the production of sperm cells (spermatogenesis).
