three-phase alternating current

German: Drehstrom
Japanese: 三相交流

Electricity. Commercial electricity is commonly transmitted as three single-phase currents, that is, three separate currents following separate sine curves, having the same frequency, but with the peaks of their individual curves one-third (120°) of a cycle apart. The alternating power frequency for three-phase alternating current is called three-phase current frequency.
