Neurology. A type of brain waves which have a frequency of 4 to 7 Hz and an amplitude of 5 - 100 microvolt. These by EEG recorded waves occur in the frontal and temporal regions shortly before falling asleep. They occur mainly in children but also in adults during periods of emotional stress.
