Communications engineering. Coaxial cable consists of an insulated conducting wire, surrounded by a cylindrical conducting sheath, usually surrounded by a final insulating layer. The cable is designed to carry high-frequent and broadband signals with frequencies between 100 kHz and 10 GHz.
