developmental stage

German: Entwicklungsstadium
Japanese: 発達段階

Developmental biology. One of several stages during of prenatal growth and differentiation of an organism, e.g., morula, blastula, gastrula, embryo, and fetus.
The developmental stages of insects are egg, larva or nymph, in some species pupa, to the adult insect (imago). The development of amphibians goes from an egg to a larval (juvenile) stage (tadpole) in which they live in and breathe water, and to an adult stage in which they can breathe air and can live on land.
