The relation that exists when things occur at the same time

1. Cell biology. A synchronous cell culture is one in which the majority of cells proceed through each stage of the cell cycle simultaneously. Synchronization can be achieved by physical or chemical methods.
2. Neurophysiology. The simultanuous discharge of neurons is called synchronization of neuronal activity. This can be recorded by electroencephalogram (EEG).
3. Medical engineering. A cardiac pacemaker can be implanted for synchronization of the heart activity.
