induction cooker

Synonyms:
  • induction hob
German: Induktionsherd
Japanese: 電磁調理器

Electrical engineering. In an induction stovetop, a powerful electromagnet is placed underneath the glass surface. A electric current is applied to the electromagnet which produces an oscillating magnetic field (20 - 100 kHz). This magnetic field induces a current in the magnetic cooking vessel which produces instant and evenly distributed heat. Induction cookers are faster and more energy-efficient compared to conventional electric cookers.
