far field

German: Fernfeld
Japanese: 遠方界

Radio engineering. The region where the distance from a radiating antenna exceeds the wavelength of the radiated EMF. In the far-field, field components (E and H) and the direction of propagation are mutually perpendicular, and the shape of the field pattern is independent of the distance from the source.
