Haematology. The formation and development of blood cells (erythrocytes, granulocytes, thrombocytes and lymphocytes) involving both proliferation and differentiation from stem cells stimulated by haematopoetic growth factors (CSF: colony stimulating factors). In adult mammals usually occurs in bone marrow.
