gene conversion

German: Genkonversion
Japanese: 遺伝子変換

Genetics. A genetic process which occurs during meiotic division and leads to the production of non-reciprocal recombinant strands. The result is the apparent conversion of one allele into another. Thus the meiotic products have unequally distributed alleles, such as 3:1 or 1:3 instead of 2:2.
