Opponent of the agonist.

1. Anatomy. A muscle, which is responsible for a movement diametrical opposed to the movement of another muscle (agonist).
2. Pharmacology. A substance that counteracts another drug or somatic transmitter, e.g. by blocking a certain receptor.
