Study type: Medical/biological study (experimental study)

Effect of continuous-wave and amplitude-modulated 2.45 GHz microwave radiation on the liver and brain aminoacyl-transfer RNA synthetases of in utero exposed mice med./bio.

Published in: Bioelectromagnetics 1996; 17 (6): 497-503

Aim of study (acc. to author)

To investigate the effects of continuous-wave (CW) and amplitude-modulated (AM) microwave (MW) exposure on aminoacyl-transfer RNA synthetase.

Background/further details

The enzyme was isolated from liver and brain of in utero exposed mice.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

Overall no differences in body weight, mortality, organ weight and protein content of brain and liver were found between CW and AM exposed animals, respectivily, compared to control groups. The activity of aminoacyl tRNA synthetase isolated from brain of CW exposed animals was significantly decreased, whereas the enzym activity from liver was significantly increased in CW and AM exposed animals. No altered activity was found for the enzym isolated from brain of AM exposed animals.
