Study type: Technical/dosimetric study (experimental study)

A method for dissection of discrete regions of rat brain following microwave irradiation tech./dosim.

Published in: Brain Res Bull 1983; 11 (1): 31-42

Aim of study (acc. to author)

To describe and illustrate a simple microdissection technique for obtaining discrete areas from rat brain exposed to microwaves. The procedure relies on the coordinate system of "Pellegrino et al." for the free-hand dissection of stereotaxically defined regions of the brain.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

The dissection of 16 discrete regions is shown in photographic and schematic form. The technique may prove useful for examining neurochemical processes in discrete areas of the rat CNS. It may establishing the distribution of pharmacological and toxicological agents at a neuroanatomical level.
