Published in: Bioelectrochem Bioenerg 1985; 14 (1-3): 169-174

Aim of study (acc. to author)

Report of a clinical trial on treatment of osteoporosis with low frequency magnetic fields.

Background/further details

52 patients were selected on the basis of age, anamnesis, clinical symptoms and radiographic and mineralometric determinations.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

Positive results on pain and functionality with a global improvement in motor activity were obtained in 80-90% of the cases after the first or second cycle; a third cycle seemed to be indicated to stabilize early results. The demineralization process did not get worse (steady state level in the loss of bone tissue).
