Hybrid vehicle

Belongs to:
Vehicles and transportation
Synonyms:
Hybrid electrical vehicle
Description:

Hybrid vehicles are motor vehicles that are driven by a combustion engine and at least one electric motor; the necessary energy is obtained from a fuel tank and an electrochemical storage. Depending on the system structure, a distinction between serial and parallel hybrid is feasible: If the combustion engine only drives the electric generator, the propulsion is called serial; if both electric motor and combustion engine affect the drive train, the propulsion is parallel. Additionally, a distinction between mild and full hybrid vehicles can be made depending on the contribution of the electric propulsion to the total power.

Magnetic fields occur especially during hard acceleration or battery charging. Due to switching between gas and electric operation hybrid vehicles tend to more magnetic pulses in the kHz range.
