Pharmacology. A benzodiazepine with anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle relaxant effects. Its actions are mediated by enhancement of the neurotransmitter GABA activity. It is used in the treatment of anxiety, as a hypnotic and a sedative.
