Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry

German: matrixunterstützte Laserdesorption/Ionisation- Massenspektroskopie
Japanese: マトリックス支援レーザー脱離イオン化質量分析法

Analytical Chemistry. A mass spectrometric technique that is used for the analysis of biomolecules with molecular weight over 300,000 Dalton. Analyte molecules are embedded in a matrix and are ionized by laser. Because almost no fragmentation occurs this technique is well suited for molecular weight determination and mixture analysis.
