Pharmacology. 2-bromo-2-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane. A halogenated hydrocarbon that is used as an inhalation anaesthetic. Halothane acts muscle-relaxing and abates breathing and cardiovascular system. Side effects are liver damage, respiratory depression and cardiac insufficiency.
