The act of limiting movement

1. Physiology. Fixation of a body part or the whole body. For example, mice are restrained in plastic tubes of an exposure setup to achieve an uniform whole-body exposure.
2. Biochemistry. Immobilized enzymes are attached to a surface such as glass and can be reused for many reaction cycles. Following methods are used: adsorption onto glass or beads, crosslinking, ionic bonding and covalent bonding.
