magnetite

German: Magnetit
Japanese: マグネタイト

Chemistry. A very common black magnetic mineral, Fe3O4, one of several iron oxides.
Magnetite crystals are also found in migratory birds, turtles, honeybees, and certain types of bacteria. They seem to be involved in magnetoreception and the orientation as well as navigation in the magnetic field of the Earth. Organisms can also synthesize biogenic magnetite.
