Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

  • FTIR spectroscopy
German: Fourier-Transform-Infrarot-Spektroskopie
Japanese: フーリエ変換赤外分光法

Physics. A spectroscopic technique in which a qualitative and quantitative infrared spectrum is recorded and calculated by Fourier transformation. FTIR spectroscopy is applied to study solid, liquid and gas as well as for chemical analysis of material surfaces. It is characterized by short measurement times, high accuracy, and high selectivity.
