Physics. A spectroscopic technique in which a qualitative and quantitative infrared spectrum is recorded and calculated by Fourier transformation. FTIR spectroscopy is applied to study solid, liquid and gas as well as for chemical analysis of material surfaces. It is characterized by short measurement times, high accuracy, and high selectivity.
