Rail vehicle technology. A magnetic levitation train that has been developed in Germany for high speed travel. Depending on the Transrapid type, velocities up to 500 km/h can be reached with a TR-07 and even 550 km/h with a TR-08. After various Transrapid projects have been cancelled in Germany between 2000 – 2008 due to financial reasons, the only Transrapid track in use is in Shanghai, China.
