The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) of the European Commission provided opinions on emerging or newly-identified health and environmental risks and on broad, complex or multidisciplinary issues requiring a comprehensive assessment of risks to consumer safety or public health not covered by other Community risk assessment bodies. Potential areas of activity include for example: new technologies (e.g. nanotechnologies), medical devices, physical hazards (e.g. electromagnetic fields, noise), interaction of risk factors and methodologies for assessing new risks.
SCENIHR was replaced by the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) in 2016.
