Biochemistry. Protein containing one or more covalently linked carbohydrate residues. Includes most plasma proteins (except for serum albumin) and proteins of the cell membrane. Sugar residues found include: mannose, galactose, fucose, N acetyl glucosamine, N acetyl galactosamine, and sialic acid.
