Endocrinology. Hormone belonging to the catecholamines and neurotransmitter of the sympathetic nervous system. Noradrenaline is synthesized from the amino acid tyrosine in the adrenal gland and in pertinent nerve endings. Like adrenaline, it induces the constriction of blood vessels and an increase in blood pressure, but in contrast to adrenaline, it decreases the heart rate.
