cytostatics

German: Zytostatika
Japanese: 細胞増殖抑制剤

Pharmacology. Agents that are used in the treatment of malignant tumors (chemotherapy). Cytostatics suppresses cell growth and multiplication by different mechanisms. They particularly act on fast proliferating cells with a high metabolic rate. Hence, the side effects of all cytostatics are very similar: Lowering of the blood cell count, gastrointestinal problems, loss of hair and liver damage.
