Biochemistry. Abbr. DAG. A second messenger in calcium-mediated responses to hormones. It consists of two fatty acids are linked to glycerol. Diacylglycerol is produced by the membrane-bound enzyme phospholipase C and activates the enzyme protein kinase C carrying on the signal.
