Chamber The horn antenna was positioned vertically and centered above a Plexiglas water bath maintained at 37 ± 0.5 °C and placed in the center of a 3 x 3 x 10.5 m tapered Eccosorb-lined anechoic chamber.
Setup Glass beakers of 50 ml volume containing 100-mg tissue samples in 2 ml of medium were arranged in two parallel rows of three beakers each in a floating Styrofoam holder in an array (20 x 24 cm) smaller than the horn aperture. A gentle back-and-forth lateral motion below 10 cm of amplitude was imparted to the holder.
Sham exposure A sham exposure was conducted.
Additional info Temperature measurements on test beakers made within 10 s before and after exposure showed no increase.
