Effects of ELF electric fields on the isolated frog heart med./bio.

Published in: IEEE Trans Biomed Eng 1983; 30 (6): 347-348

Aim of study (acc. to author)

To investigate the effect of extremely low frequency (ELF) electric fields on heart rate of isolated frog hearts in vitro.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

Heart rates were increased by the electric fields above a threshold of 20-30 V/m. Moreover, heart rate was more affected by field frequencies near the natural heart rate (approx. 0.5 Hz), as by higher frequencies.
