hemicholinium-3

German: Hemicholinium-3
Japanese: ヘミコリニウム3

Neurophysiology. A potent inhibitor of the high-affinity choline uptake system. Since choline is a component of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, treatment with hemicholinium-3 can stop the synthesis of acetylcholine in the synapse and deplete acetylcholine from cholinergic terminals. Hemicholinium 3 is used as a research tool in animal and in vitro experiments.
