Enzymology. An enzyme involved in many cellular processes such as DNA repair and programmed cell death. It catalyzes the transfer of multiple ADP-ribose groups from NAD+ onto substrate proteins, thus building up a linear or branched homopolymer of repeating ADP-ribose units.
