To study the effects of exposure to a mobile phone on sexual behavior in adult male rabbits. (The study was retracted by the authors (Salama et al. 2012)).

18 male rabbits were randomly divided into exposure and two control groups (sham exposure and cage control). On the day of mating, males were given access to six estrous females for a period of three minutes each.

The main type of mounts in the exposed group was mount without ejaculation and its duration and frequency increased significantly compared with the controls. The reverse effect was observed in the mounts with ejaculation (i.e. frequency and duration of mounts with ejaculation were significantly lower in exposed animals).
The hormonal assays did not show any significant differences between the three groups.
The authors conclude that the pulsed radiofrequency emitted by a conventional mobile phone in standby position, could affect the sexual behavior in rabbits.
