研究目的(著者による)

To examine the behaviour of cows exposed to a high-frequency electromagnetic field (by antennas on the roofs of stables). Investigations were carried out on 30 milk farms with different levels of irradiation to an electromagnetic field.

Additional information The lying-, standing-, eating, roaming and cud-chewing behaviour of different sorts of cows were observed. Observations were carried out on 29 dairy farms in the province of Bavaria and Hesse with respect to different lavel of electromagnetic exposure. All cows were kept in stanchion stables during winter. From May till November cows were observed on the pastures (8 farms).

Significant differences were revealed in lying behaviour, daily behaviour profile on pasture and ruminating behaviour, which could be interpreted as the cows' response to these fields. The results could be interpreted as chronic stress and show a biological effect of a high-frequency electromagnetic field.
