この研究は、インド北西部ラジャスタン州の州都ジャイプールの4地区から無作為に選択した携帯電話基地局4ヵ所の周辺住民(n=20)とそれぞれの基地局からほぼ1kmの距離に住む対照(n=20)に睡眠質指標(PSQI)調査票および一般的健康に関する質問票の調査を行い、併せて刺激時/非刺激時の唾液分泌を検査した。その結果、周辺住民群の大半が睡眠障害頭痛、目眩、イライラ感、集中困難、高血圧を訴えた;周辺住民群では対照群に比べ、刺激唾液分泌の有意な低下者が多かった、と報告している。

Some health disturbances (e.g. sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness and hypertension) were more often observed in the exposed group residing less than 1 km to a mobile phone base station in comparison to the control group living at a distance of more than 1 km to a base station (remark EMF-Portal: both groups differ in sex and age distributions). Exposed subjects had significantly lower stimulated salivary secretion as compared to the control subjects. Other parameters showed no significant differences between the two groups.
The authors concluded that effects of exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields from mobile phone base stations on the health and well-being of the general population cannot be ruled out.
