An acrylic restrainer with experimental animal in prone position was placed on the observing stage of a fluorescence microscope. The electromagnet was placed on a mobile basement which was positioned over the acrylic observation stage of the microscope (160 x 160 x 5 mm). The animals were located in the center of maximal EMF flux density.
The experiments consisted of three observation periods , the first 3 min consisted of a pre-exposure period, followed by 10 min of sham or real exposure period and a post exposure period of 20 min. The steel bar of the exposure device was covered by a silica iron laminated alloy to prevent heat transfer due to eddy currents.
