Short-term effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields exposure on Alzheimer's disease in rats

この研究は、SD雄ラット(n=20)を用いて超低周波電磁界(ELF-EMFばく露記憶障害の関係を調べた。12週齢のラットばく露群、擬似ばく露群(それぞれn=10)に無作為に分け、100μT、50HzのELF-EMFに12週間、ばく露擬似ばく露)した後、モーリス水迷路(MWM)により認知および記憶の能力の変化を測定し、また、大脳皮質海馬血漿のアミロイドβ(Aβ)含有量を測定した。その結果、ばく露群、擬似ばく露群で、ばく露終了後の体重に有意差はなかった;認知ならびに記憶の障害、またAβ含有量や組織学的変化にも両群で違いはなかった、と報告している。

To examine the influence of exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields on memory impairment in rats.

Rats were exposed (n=10) or sham exposed (n=10).
At the end of the exposure period, rats were subjected to the Morris water maze. Afterwards, they were killed to remove the brain and take blood samples.

No significant differences were observed in the body weight, histopathological examination of the brain, content of beta-amyloid protein, and the performance in the Morris water maze between exposed and sham exposed rats.
The results indicate that exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields has no influence on the memory performance of rats.
